Kids Fishing Events

The Yahara Fishing Club takes great pride in our commitment to introduce young people to fishing.  Each year the club hosts two kids fishing events where we purchase and give away over 500 fishing rods and reels and instruct kids on both open water and ice fishing techniques.

Kids Fishing Day, every year in June.

The first 300 kids receive a free fishing rod and bait along with help from our members. The day normally coinsides with the Wisconsin “free fishing weekend”, so adults can fish without a license. A free lunch of hot dogs, chips, and soft drink will be provided after the fishing.
Where:  Warner Park Lagoon (2930 N. Sherman Ave)
When:  June 1st, 2024

This event will take place regardless of the weather.  If the ice is less than six inches thick all activities will be held on land at the shelter.  If the ice isn’t safe we will still give out ice fishing gear to kids and provide hot chocolate and hot dogs.
